20 Minutes without Breathing? Challenge Accepted! A Swiss diver by the name of Peter Colat took the challenge and succeeded in setting the world record for holding one’s breath underwater. The Guinness book now includes his name next to the incredible 19 minutes and 21 seconds. The event at which the recording of the feat was made was at the water tank platform at a fair.
The man was allowed to breathe pure oxygen for ten whole minutes before diving. Peter Colat shattered the previous score of 19 minutes and 2 seconds. It was an achievement by the Italian Nicola Putignano.
